Chapter one. Perspective.

The glass of water: half full or half empty?

I have been thinking a lot about the first article I wanted to publish after this long break. I figured it must be something that brings value, sends a powerful message, draws attention, and so on. At some point, I said to myself that the whole idea of the blog was to write as if I were talking to a dear friend and, maybe by doing so, some would like to follow the conversation. I am not sure how this will evolve, but for now, I want to keep the ideas and thoughts shared here as simple as possible.

Lately, I have come to realise that life in itself is far simpler than we tend to perceive it. Maybe now as we are adapting to a new normality, we can easily see that we don’t need that much to feel happy. I believe peace lies in the ability of being grateful for every life situation that comes your way, being grateful for whatever is happening in your life right now and with whomever you are sharing this experience.

I truly doubt that there is such thing as the ultimate truth or the rigid segregation between right and wrong. The way you look at things influences directly how you perceive the outer world. This means that your perspective on a given situation determines your attitude towards it. Sounds pretty basic, doesn’t it? But still, have you ever tried to change a whole outer context just to fit your view, instead of changing your perspective, in order to see that things are not as bad as you thought them to be? Sometimes we forget we have a choice on how we think and what we think. I believe in those times it is essential to take a step back and look again, consciously, at the situation, detached from that given context.

What bends doesn’t break. Remaining flexible may suit you in times of uncertainty and unknown. We jump pretty quickly at assuming that some things are right and others are bad, but maybe we ought to think that there might be a bigger picture we can’t see because we are too tight up in a small circle.
